The Cisne Institute is a philantrhopic social organization, not-for-profit organization, which since 1986 services children, teenagers, adults and elderly with mental desability that present behavior difficulties related to concentration difficulty, lack of balance, motor coordination, hyperactivity, speech and reading problems, slow thought processing and task execution. Such conditions lead to limitations in psychological and social autonomy.

Cisne Institute has professionals and volunteers in the areas of psychology, pedagogy, phonoaudiology, holistic therapies, arts, music, theater, pet and equotherapy (animal-assisted therapy, dogs and horses), scouting, physical education, aikido and yoga, all directed to the global development of the individuals.

Our mission as a NGO is attend to the necessities of these individuals in a unique way.
We aim to identify their capabilities, re-establish their self-esteem and potential in order to increase their self-acceptance, and their acceptance by their families and by the society as a whole. As a result each individual discovers their own ways of being focusing on their potential instead of incorporating social stereotypes associated with “illness” or “handicap” notions.
